Commerce Department Authorizes Issuance of Retired Credentials to BIS Enforcement Officers

U.S. Commerce Secretary Carlos M. Gutierrez has signed a Department Administrative Order (DAO) permitting the issuance of retired credentials to BIS and other Commerce Department law enforcement officers who retire in good standing.

Secretary Gutierrez indicated that this is a significant step in honoring Commerce law enforcement officials for their contributions to U.S. national security.

After the signing, Secretary Gutierrez presented the first retired credential under this new policy to Wendy Hauser, BIS Special Agent-in-Charge of the Chicago Field Office. Ms. Hauser recently retired from BIS after 30 years of federal service as a distinguished law enforcement officer.
