U.S.-China Economic and Security Review Commission to Hold Hearing on China's Proliferation Practices and Cyber and Space Warfare Capabilities
The U.S.-China Economic and Security Review Commission will hold a public hearing in Washington, DC on May 20, 2008 to address "China's Proliferation Practices and the Development of its Cyber and Space Warfare Capabilities'' The hearing will examine China's proliferation activities, China's growing cyber space activities and capabilities as well as China's growing presence and capabilities in outer space. Congress created the U.S.-China Economic and Security Review Commission in 2000 in the National Defense Authorization Act (Section 1238 of Pub. L. 106-398). The Commission is mandated by Congress to investigate, assess, evaluate and report to Congress annually on "the national security implications and impact of the bilateral trade and economic relationship between the United States and the People's Republic of China."
