Commerce Department Publishes Trade Finance Guide for U.S. Exporters

For those exporters looking for useful information on the difference between a letter of credit, documentary collections and other techniques of export financing, the U.S. Department of Commerce's International Trade Administration recently published the first edition of the Trade Finance Guide: A Quick Reference for U.S. Exporters.

The Trade Finance Guide contains useful information and tips on the most common export financing and insurance methods, including: Cash-in-Advance; Letters of Credit; Documentary Collections; Open Account; Export Working Capital Financing; Government-Guaranteed Export Working Capital Programs; Export Credit Insurance; Export Factoring; Forfaiting; and Government Assisted Foreign Buyer Financing.

The Trade Finance Guide was created by the Commerce Department in cooperation with FCIB, an Association of Executives in Finance, Credit and International Business that provides education and training on credit and risk management to exporting companies.

The complete version of the Trade Finance Guide in PDF format can be found here.
