Yesterday, Allied Tube and Conduit Corporation, IPSCO Tubulars, Inc., Maruichi American Corporation, Maverick Tube Corporation, Sharon Tube Company, Western Tube and Conduit Corporation, Wheatland Tube Company and the United Steelworkers of America, AFL-CIO filed a section 421 Safeguard Petition on Circular Welded Non Alloy Steel Pipe from China with the U.S. International Trade Commission. In a China safeguard investigation, the ITC determines whether a product from China is being imported into the U.S. in such increased quantities or under such conditions as to cause or threaten to cause market disruption to the domestic producers of like or directly competitive products. If the ITC makes an affirmative determination, it proposes a remedy. The ITC sends its report to the President and the U.S. Trade Representative. The President makes the final remedy decision.
