The Bureau of Industry and Security (BIS) has announced that two Technical Advisory Committees will meet in the coming months.

First, the Transportation and Related Equipment Technical Advisory Committee (TRETAC) will meet on March 17, 2005 at 9:30 a.m. in Washington, DC. The TRETAC advises the Office of the Assistant Secretary for Export Administration on technical questions that affect the level of export controls applicable to transportation and related equipment or technology.

The agenda includes an update on country-specific policies and pending regulations, a review of Wassenaar Arrangement and Technical Working Group issues, a review of Missile Technology Control Regime issues and an update on Commerce Control List and U.S. Munitions List issues

The meeting, which will be held in Room 3884 of the Herbert C. Hoover Building, will be open to the public and a limited number of seats will be available.

In addition, the Information Systems Technical Advisory Committee (ISTAC) will meet on February 23 and 24, 2005, 9:00 a.m., at the Space and Naval Warfare Systems Center (SPAWAR), Building 33, Cloud Room, 53560 Hull Street in San Diego, California. The ISTAC advises the Office of the Assistant Secretary for Export Administration on technical questions that affect the level of export controls applicable to information systems equipment and technology. The agenda includes a presentation on excimer lasers and extreme ultraviolet (EUV), a presentation on Microwave Semiconductor Technology and anoverview of the STI Cell processor. A portion of the ISTAC meeting will be closed to the public.
