The Dallas Morning News recently published an excellent article describing the history of the investigation of InfoCom for violations of U.S. export control laws. The article contains a detailed account of the investigation and describes how InfoCom's dealings with Iraq's internet domain (.iq), not the illegal shipments to Libya and Syria, led BIS to commence its investigation on suspected violations of U.S. export control laws. As reported in International Trade Law News, the investigation ultimately led to a criminal indictment and recent conviction.
