In preparation for the elimination of WTO textile quotas scheduled for January 1, 2005, the Bureau of Customs and Border Protection (CBP) has added a new section to its Web site containing information on the textile quota integration and elimination process.

The "World Trade Organization (WTO) Quota Elimination" site, which can be found at www.customs.ustreas.gov/xp/cgov/import/textiles_and_quotas/wto_quota_elemination/, is intended to provide information to CBP field personnel, importers and exporters on the final phase of the textiles quota elimination process. Information such as Quota Bulletin Transmittals (QBT), Textile Bulletin Transmittals (TBT), and applicable Federal Register Notices will be posted on the site. In addition, the site contains a list of frequently asked questions on the textiles quota elimination process.

While The Committee for the Implementation of Textile Agreements (CITA) is responsible for setting the U.S. policy on the final phase of the quota elimination process, CBP will be responsible for implementing the policy at the nation's ports.
